
AIM quoted Parallel Media Group plc, the sports marketing, media and management company, today announces that following their appointment as exclusive worldwide commercial representative of the Mission Hills Golf Club, China in 2006, a 12 year agreement had been signed, for an undisclosed fee, for world leading brand Omega to become the title sponsor of the Mission Hills World Cup.
The Omega Mission Hills World Cup is the only world team stroke play event and carries a prize purse of US$5 million.
The agreement will see the Chinese venue, which is the world’s biggest golf complex, host the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in 2007 and 2008 as well as a World Golf Championship event through to the year 2018.
Parallel Media Group has a long and highly successful involvement with the World Cup, having been its promoter from 1987 to 1999. In 1995, PMG took the World Cup to China hosted by the Mission Hills Golf Club and thereby introduced the game of professional golf into the world’s most populous country.
The Omega Mission Hills World Cup is the only world team stroke play event and carries a prize purse of US$5 million.
Commenting today on the agreement, David Ciclitira, Chairman of PMG, stated “This agreement with Omega is a significant step for both PMG and the Mission Hills Golf Club. Having recently announced new sponsorship contracts for the UBS Hong Kong Open with Emirates, Rolex and BMW, this agreement with Omega proves PMG’s ability to attract high profile sponsors to our events, and is the beginning of a series of contracts we hope to announce in 2007”.
The 2007 Omega Mission Hills World Cup will be staged from November 22-25, 2007 on the 7,400 yard Olazábal Course at Mission Hills Golf Club, Shenzhen, China.
